A DIY version of the fast-food favorite, this homemade Crunchwrap Supreme is layered with seasoned ground beef, nacho cheese, a crunchy tostada shell, sour cream, lettuce, tomatoes, and shredded cheese...all wrapped in a giant tortilla and pan-fried until golden and crispy. The result is a handheld masterpiece that’s fresh, flavorful, and way better than the drive-thru.
Ingredients
- 1 lb ground beef
- 1 packet taco seasoning (or homemade mix)
- ¾ cup water
- 4 large burrito-size flour tortillas (12-inch)
- 4 tostada shells (or small crunchy corn tortillas)
- ½ cup nacho cheese sauce (warm)
-
1 cup sour cream or plain greek yogurt
- 1 cup shredded lettuce
- 1 cup diced tomatoes
- 1 cup shredded cheddar or Mexican blend cheese
- Olive oil or butter, for frying
Directions
- Heat a skillet over medium heat. Add ground beef, breaking it apart with a spatula. Cook until browned, about 7 minutes.
- Drain excess fat, then stir in taco seasoning and water. Simmer until thickened, 3–4 minutes.
- Warm the large tortillas briefly in a pan or microwave so they fold without tearing.
- Place a large tortilla on a flat surface. Spread a few spoonfuls of seasoned beef in the center.
- Drizzle with nacho cheese, then top with a tostada shell.
- Spread sour cream over the tostada, then add lettuce, tomato, and shredded cheese.
- Fold the edges of the tortilla up and over the center, working in sections, until fully sealed. If the tortilla doesn’t cover everything, place a small torn tortilla piece in the middle before folding to “patch” it.
- Heat a drizzle of oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Place crunchwrap seam-side down and cook until golden brown, about 2–3 minutes per side.
- Cut in half and enjoy immediately with salsa, guacamole, or hot sauce.
Recipe Note
- Add sliced jalapeños or hot sauce for extra kick.
- Swap ground beef for shredded chicken, beans, or plant-based crumbles.
- Don’t skip warming the tortillas, it makes folding easier and prevents cracks.
